Recruitment

  • What is Recruitment?

Recruitment is a series of informal events that allows you to learn more about the Greek system, sorority life and individual sorority members. It is a time to be entertained - laugh, dance, sing, and have fun!  It is also a time to ask questions, meet new people, and make memories! During the week, you will be assigned a recruitment group with your Pi Rho Chi's, your group's leaders; sorority members who are there to assist you throughout the week.

If you have any questions concerning Recruitment, please contact ETSU Panhellenic Council or visit their website at: http://www.etsu.edu/students/sorc/greeklife/panhellenic/pros.aspx.

  • Recruitment FAQs

Q: What is a Pi Rho Chi?

A: Pi Rho Chi's are sorority members that help out with Recruitment. These ladies are there to assist you throughout the week. They will help answer any questions you might have and they will be the ones to guide you throughout the Recruitment period. For more information reguarding Recruitment, please contact the SORC B.

Q: How much does it cost to join a sorority?

A: An important consideration in deciding to join a sorority should be whether or not you are able to meet the financial responsibilities. Each sorority varies in cost and can range anywhere from $400 to $600 for your initiation semester. Please do not let the price of joining a sorority hinder you from going through Recruitment. Most sororities will help and assist you in paying your dues by setting up payment plans in order to make it easier for you to join. This may mean making payments weekly, bi-weekly, or even throughout the year. Specifically, Kappa Delta at ETSU costs $502.00 for your 1st semester. These dues cover your costs of initiation and your pin.

Q: Are there any grade requirements?

A: Although the Panhellenic Council does not require a specific grade point average to participate in the formal recruitment process, each chapter has a minimum grade point average for membership. These range from a 2.4 to a 2.9 on a 4.0 scale for high school and college. Once initiated, a sister must maintain a high GPA to remain in good standing with her sorority, thus enabling her to vote on important matters within the sorority and attend social events. Most sororities provide programs such as specified study hours, "study buddies," and tutoring programs to establish and promote outstanding scholarship.
